Cobourg Public Library “Homeschooling Friends” drop in program meets on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of every month from 2:00-4:00pm. These alternate between parent and staff led activity sessions. The library also offers other programs that are not specifically geared towards homeschool children. Call 905-372-9271 or visit the website for more information.
Port Hope Library offers a homeschooling program the 2nd and 4th Thursday of every month from 2:00-3:30. Each month there will be a science theme, presentations and a French program.
Poster and Literary Contests
These contests, held by the local Legion branch, are for children grades 1 through 12. Details and entry forms are available on the Legion website. Deadlines for entries are determined by the individual Legion branches. Plan to contact them early in September since the contests are usually centred around Remembrance Day.
Ganaraska Conservation offers March Break and Summer “Nature Nuts” Camps.
Road Less Travelled Academy offers weekly “Forest Days” alongside their full time students.
The Happy Wanderers offers Tuesday and Saturday programs.

Track and Field, Cross Country
Ontario Homeschool Track and Field Meet Oshawa Civic Stadium. Ages 4 to 18. Track Events: 50m, 100m, 200m, 400m. Field Events: sack race, football and baseball throws, soccer kick, standing, running, triple jumps, shotput. Ribbons and medals awarded. Used curriculum sale. Maximum 300 participants. This event occurs at the end of June. Check back for more info in 2020.
The Cobourg Legion Branch 133 Youth Track Club is for serious track and field competitors. It is mainly for high school aged youth, but high performing middle schoolers may be considered. Training sessions are held twice weekly during January and February at the Cobourg Community Centre. Club members compete at the Legion’s indoor provincial championships at York University. Registration is early December.
