Northumberland Homeschool Physical Education Class
Fees: Drop-in. $7 per family per class. Pay as you go, or in advance. Cash only.
Location: Baltimore Community Centre, 23 Community Centre Road, Baltimore, Ontario
All ages welcome. Drop in / No registration required. Two classes are held on the Baltimore Community Centre turf at the same time: a junior class for children under ~8 years of age, and a senior class for those over ~8 years of age. The senior class is led by a paid instructor who teaches a variety of sports skills and games. The juniors are welcome to arrange their own fun with the provided equipment, and parental involvement is encouraged to organize games for them as needed. Please note, if you are a parent interested in leading the juniors class, you do not need to pay the gym fee that week.
Parents can relax in the adjacent viewing room with babies and children who are not yet ready to participate in a formal gym class or can use a dedicated section of the turf for free play. Located behind the community centre is a beautiful park with playgrounds, paved paths, baseball diamonds, a basketball court, a flat pad for skateboarding, and a picnic shelter. Everyone is welcome to bring a lunch and stay after the class for additional community time spent together and to make friends.
During the winter months, our homeschool group is also invited to attend the parent and tot ice skating from 11am to 12pm. This scheduled skate is free.
Clean indoor shoes are a requirement on the turf. Outdoor shoes, bare feet, or socks are not permitted. Any parents accompanying their children on the turf must have indoor shoes as well. Open cuts need to be covered; a first aid kit will be available. Snacks and drinks are permitted in the viewing room only. A waiver must be signed before your child(ren) participates in the classes. There will also be copies available when you arrive.
Upon arrival, please sign in on the two sheets by the binder. One indicates you have paid for the day. The other is an attendance number to account for everyone in the event there is an emergency/fire.
